Our story ...

areAnxiety and depression are major issues for people in our society today. People struggle to manage their thinking and emotions while trying to keep up with the fast pace life we are living. Our unconscious desire is to become one with our Self. In order to become whole we need to become aware, accept and integrate all of the different parts within us which have developed over the years through our various experiences. People can learn to let go of what is out of their control and change how they perceive what is happening in their lives. Self judgement, low self-esteem/confidence, guilty feelings, shame and doubt are all part of the harsh self-talk people engage in. Forgiveness, love, acceptance and peace within is necessary for people to be able to reach their full potential.

Our ‘Story’ keeps us from living our true lives. It keeps us living outside of ourselves and the essence of ourselves that is our truth. We can only find this truth within our core Self. Einstein once said “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift”. Society is designed to keep us living outside of ourselves and in the ‘Story’.

Our ‘Story’ is given to us as small children through our family, school, friends and even our environment. It is given to us mostly unconsciously although sometimes it can be done very consciously, for example, someone constantly telling us we are stupid or not as important as others, different, useless the list goes on and on. Finally we don’t need anyone else to tell us these things consciously or unconsciously as we have taken on board what is being said or what we are picking up energetically and it becomes our ‘Story’. The ‘Story’ then takes on a life of it’s own and goes into bigger and more complex negative thoughts and reasoning about who we are as we progress through our lives. The ‘Story’ becomes our truth from our rational brain which seeks out situations and people who will validate this ‘Story’ we are living in.

We need to remember at this point that a child has a child’s cognition therefore they cannot know that these things are not the truth of who we really are and this causes a disconnect within us. We develop different parts within ourselves to manage the disconnect and try to protect ourselves from the struggle within, to return to our true self, and without to manage our ‘Story’ and not become overwhelmed. Our inner world our true Self knows that this ‘Story’ is not the truth but we are caught in the outside ‘Story’ and are no longer listening to our essential self. We call this essential self many things such as intuition, gut feeling, our soul, our spirit or our core Self. It doesn’t matter what we call it we all know we have it and yet we hardly ever listen to it. We don’t drop into our bodies to see what it’s telling us. We stay in our ‘Story’ which causes anxiety, depression and stress.

When we learn to spend time within we become aware of the essence that is us and we can let go of many parts of our ‘Story’, we can stop struggling to understand the ‘Story’ and blaming ourselves or others because we are not happier, wealthier, better looking, have more friends, a better job or whatever it is our ‘Story’ tells us and listen to our Soul the part of us that has always known our truth. And that truth is………….

We are and always have been enough.

Acceptance
Learning to accept where we are at any given time is very difficult to do.  We can't change the past what has gone has gone and we are exactly where we are in any moment in time.  When we can accept that it frees us up to make changes to where we might want to move to in our thoughts, feelings and environment.  Shakespeare says in Hamlet "there is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so".  When we accept that we are in control of our thoughts and therefore control how we percieve what is happening in our life we can then manage our feelings more effectively in order to support ourselves moving through our experiences.  Acceptance is not about feeling happy and joyful all the time it is allowing ourselves to have our feelings with out going into the story about them.  No one causes us to feel any way, happy, angry, sad, excited etc. we have a sensation label it and go into the habitual story that we have learned within our life time.  We have the ability to change this habitual response, it's difficult and takes a long time but we can move past it and choose to think and percieve things in different ways, ways that make us feel less challenged and more able to respond to what is happening or not happening in our life.
Connecting to our Enoughness
Plato said true knowledge is remembering what the Soul once knew
Our Soul knows what is right for us and always has known and yet we are not listening to it. Why do you think this is?  We live in the stories in our heads and the stories in other people's heads and not from our true inner Knowing.  We have lost the essence of who we truly are.
Gospel of Thomas           verse 70
“if you bring forth that which is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you”

This is telling us that to be happy and at peace in life we have to contact our Souls and  live from what our journey is about in this life not what someone else's journey is about. Comparing ourselves judging ourselves and others does not serve us it keeps us from our true self.  We are unique individuals with a unique journey of learning and growing.  If we don't live from within we will suffer from this loss of our Self and will not feel fulfilled in our lives, our relationships with ourselves and others and our work.  So many of us are working in areas that are not our Soul's purpose and somewhere we know we're not happy and living the life we could be but unable to find the answers to how to change this, putting blocks and reasons on ourselves as to why we have to stay where we are.  We know something is missing for us but don't know what that is or how to find it.  This missing piece is the connection to our Soul. Happiness is the function of an inner attitude towards outer circumstances

Gnostics believe that in knowing oneself, one knows the divine and the Universe.  Also that Souls who are enlightened recognise one another – Souls are responsive to one another because they all come from the same Soul- The Soul
Isn't that just such a lovely piece to know that we all come from the same place The Soul Whatever we wish to call it, God, The Divine, The Universe,  The Light, We are all one.
Ferrucci (What we may be) said
We have already been given everything we need our task is to assemble and use it in the appropriate way.

How do we do this?  By connecting into our inner knowing the knowledge that has always been there and always will be. The body and earthly state changes but the Soul, if contacted, is always there ‘pure and everlasting and immortal and unchanging’. We have to learn to listen to that internal knowledge and to do this we must stop struggling with our thoughts and emotions and let them be, realise they are just energy and are passing.  When we come to accept what is happening in our outer world and we sit with ourselves in acceptance we can then bring forth that which is inside us. Life becomes easier everything that we fought with no longer calls us to fight we are at peace, at one with each other and our environment.
Buddhist teachings tell us we are all mirrors for one another seeing the truth of our inner landscape reflected in those around us.  What a lovely world this could be if we saw each other as guiding lights in this world to support us in coming home to our inner knowledge by showing us what is happening to us internally and what needs to be brought to be witnessed within us.  Witnessing instead of judging ourselves is a much gentler and supportive way to bring us back home.
